Memorials and Funeral Services
Pipers of Distinction consider it an honor to be asked to provide a musician for a Funeral or Memorial service and believe that it is an occasion where the stately dignity of the pipes is at its best.
Haunting, moving and solemn are words that have often been used to describe our piper's performances during a memorial service or at graveside participation.
To assist in the preparation of your Memorial or Funeral Service, we have provided some common requests for the use of a bagpipe player for these occasions.
The Great Highland Bagpipe can be played at the following places:
-
as mourners arrive
-
the piper can play as the family walk into the chapel
-
the piper can lead the casket to the alter
-
at any point in the service, the piper could play a hymn, or special tune during "reflection"
-
the pipes can be played as the casket is carried from or the mourners depart the chapel
AT THE GRAVESIDE
-
the piper can lead the funeral cortège up to the burial site
-
lead the procession from the hearse to the graveside
-
play an appropriate tune or song at the lowering of the casket
